Two Boys Die After Sand Heap Collapses on them in Gobabis

Two young boys died this afternoon after a heap of sand collapsed on a group of children at the Kanaan C location in Epako, Gobabis.
According to a police incident report, the children had been playing near a large excavated area when the sand suddenly gave way. A passerby who heard desperate cries for help rushed to the scene and found three boys buried under the sand. He managed to rescue them, and the survivors informed him that two more children were still trapped.
Emergency teams were called in and immediately began digging through the sand. After a thorough search, they located the remaining two boys, but they were already unresponsive. They were declared dead at the scene.
The deceased have been identified as Paulus Mukuya (7) and Dennis Eiseb (10).
Their bodies were taken to the Gobabis State Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Police say the families of the victims have been notified.
Authorities have urged the public to keep children away from dangerous excavated areas to prevent similar tragedies.
