Two Separate Suicide Incidents Reported in Rehoboth On Christmas And family day

The Namibian Police have confirmed that two separate suicide incidents were recorded in Rehoboth during the Christmas holiday period.
The first case was reported in the early hours of Thursday, 25 December 2025, at around 01:00, at a farm camp in the Rehoboth district. Police say a Namibian man, identified as Ingo Stephano Gowaseb, was found hanging from a tree in an open field, having allegedly taken his own life using a rope.
His next of kin were informed, and authorities indicated that there are no signs of foul play. No suicide note was found at the scene, and investigations are still ongoing.
A second incident was reported on Friday, 26 December 2025, at a residence in Soweto Magbela Street. The body of 26-year-old Shaida Wilma Tjapanga, a Namibian national, was discovered by her cousin inside her shack. She was found hanging from a rope.
Police further noted that the deceased had reportedly made a previous suicide attempt. No suicide note was found, and no foul play is suspected.
Her family has been notified, and police investigations continue.
