The Landless People’s Movement (LPM) has lost one of its gazetted parliamentary candidates after Vendji Kandetu announced her immediate resignation from the opposition party.

In a resignation letter dated 22 July 2026 and addressed to the party’s operative secretary, Kandetu confirmed that she is stepping down from all party structures. She also resigned from her role as a member of the party’s convention (central committee) and formally requested that her name be removed from the gazetted list of parliamentary candidates.

Kandetu stated that her decision was reached after careful reflection and was made with sincerity and respect for the party, its leadership, and its members.

Her resignation brings an end to a six-year relationship with the Landless People’s Movement, having joined the party in 2020.
