Prof Job Amupanda Claims Speaker Has 16 Bodyguards Who even Accompany Her on Trips Described as a “Secret Campaign” for SWAPO Vice-Presidency
Affirmative Repositioning leader and National Assembly member Job Shipululo Amupanda has published what he describes as the full list of 16 security officers assigned to Speaker Sara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, questioning the use of public resources for her protection.
Amupanda shared the list on social media on Tuesday evening, several hours after he was removed from the National Assembly following a confrontation with the Speaker during parliamentary proceedings.
According to Amupanda, the security detail consists of four Police Inspectors, five Warrant Officers Class One, two Warrant Officers Class Two and five Sergeants.
The list published alongside his statement contains 16 names. A review of the names shows 10 male officers and six female officers.
Amupanda argued that the deployment of such a large security detail should be questioned at a time when prosecutors and magistrates, according to him, are facing attacks and inadequate protection.
He also alleged that the officers accompany the Speaker during her official travels and claimed that some of these trips are being used as part of what he described as a “secret campaign” for the SWAPO vice-presidency.
The AR leader further accused the Speaker of using the security personnel to carry out what he called her “dirty work” at Parliament.
Amupanda said he would continue challenging what he regards as the misuse of public resources and maintained that the presence of the security detail would not stop him from pursuing his political position.
His latest statement follows an incident in the National Assembly earlier on Tuesday, when Speaker Kuugongelwa-Amadhila ordered him to leave the chamber after repeatedly ruling him out of order.
Amupanda was subsequently escorted from Parliament by security officers.
The claims regarding the Speaker’s security arrangements and the alleged political use of official trips have not been independently verified. The Speaker’s office and relevant authorities had not, at the time of publication, publicly responded to the allegations.
