Achraf Hakimi Named 2025 CAF Men’s Player of the Year

Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi has been crowned the 2025 CAF Men’s Player of the Year, securing the continent’s top football honour ahead of fellow contenders Victor Osimhen and Mohamed Salah.
Hakimi, who narrowly missed the award last year, sealed the win following an exceptional season. His achievements include lifting the UEFA Champions League title, winning Ligue 1, and playing a pivotal role in guiding Morocco to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
On the women’s side, Ghizlane Chebbak claimed the 2025 CAF Women’s Player of the Year, reaffirming Morocco’s growing influence in African football.

Meanwhile, CAF also honoured several leaders for their contributions to the sport’s development. CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, along with the Presidents of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, received special recognition for their efforts in advancing football infrastructure and regional cooperation.
The acknowledgment follows the successful hosting of the CHAN tournament, jointly staged by the East African nations. The event has been praised for setting new benchmarks in organisation, competitiveness, and fan engagement across the continent.
