CAF Lifts Samuel Eto’o Sanctions After Appeal Victory
Samuel Eto’o has been cleared of the disciplinary sanctions previously imposed on him by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after the CAF Appeals Committee overturned the decision.
The former Cameroon international and current FECAFOOT president had initially been handed a four-match stadium ban and fined $20,000 following his conduct during Cameroon’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final match against Morocco.
CAF’s Disciplinary Committee ruled that Eto’o had breached its sporting conduct regulations after he was seen protesting and making angry gestures over refereeing decisions during the match, which Cameroon lost 2-0.

FECAFOOT appealed the ruling, questioning the disciplinary process and maintaining that the decision lacked sufficient justification.
Following a review of the case, CAF’s Appeals Committee cancelled the sanctions with immediate effect, allowing Eto’o to resume attending CAF matches involving Cameroon teams.
FECAFOOT has welcomed the outcome, saying the decision demonstrates the independence and fairness of CAF’s legal structures.
