Benson Kambombo Appointed Benfica FC Assistant Coach Ahead of 2026/27 Season
Benfica FC have appointed Benson Kambombo as the club’s new assistant coach ahead of the 2026/27 Oshikoto Second Division season.
The Tsumeb-based side, who finished sixth in the Oshikoto Second Division standings last season, have strengthened their technical team by bringing in the experienced grassroots football coach.
Kambombo is a CAF D Licensed coach and is widely known as the founder and head coach of Copper Town Girls FA, a football academy committed to developing young female footballers in Tsumeb. Under his leadership, the academy has earned recognition for producing talented players and creating pathways for young girls to advance their football careers.
Among the academy’s most notable success stories is Leena Alweendo, who began her football journey at Copper Town Girls FA before progressing to higher levels of the game. Her rise highlights the academy’s dedication to identifying, developing and preparing young talent for greater opportunities.
For several years, Kambombo has played a significant role in grassroots football, mentoring and developing young players both on and off the pitch. His appointment at Benfica FC reflects the club’s confidence in his coaching ability, player development expertise and commitment to the growth of football.
