Brazil and Morocco Share Spoils in World Cup 2026 Group C Opener

Brazil and Morocco played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in their opening Group C match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with both sides earning a point to begin their campaign.
Morocco struck first in the 21st minute when Ismael Saibari found the back of the net after being set up by Brahim Diaz, giving the North Africans an early 1-0 advantage.
Brazil responded strongly and restored parity in the 32nd minute through Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian forward finished off a well-worked move after receiving a pass from Bruno Guimaraes to make it 1-1.

The match became increasingly physical as Brazil’s Casemiro and Roger Ibanez were both shown yellow cards before halftime. Brazil made two changes at the start of the second half, introducing Danilo and Fabinho in place of Ibanez and Casemiro respectively.
Both teams created opportunities after the break, with coaches making several substitutions in an attempt to find a winning goal. Morocco introduced Chemsdine Talbi, Samir El Mourabet, Anass Salah-Eddine, Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab and Soufiane Rahimi, while Brazil brought on Matheus Cunha, Luiz Henrique and Danilo dos Santos de Oliveira.
Despite the attacking changes, neither side could find a breakthrough, and the contest ended 1-1.Vinicius Jr was named the Superior 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡.
The result leaves both Brazil and Morocco with one point each in Group C as they prepare for their remaining group-stage fixtures.
