Joslin Kamatuka Departs Durban City After Three Seasons of Strong Service

Durban City FC have begun reshaping their squad ahead of future campaigns, with Namibian international striker Joslin Kamatuka confirmed to have left the Betway Premiership side after three productive seasons in KwaZulu-Natal.
The decision brings an end to a spell in which the experienced forward became one of the club’s most reliable attacking figures, contributing significantly during their rise and eventual establishment in South African top-flight football. Kamatuka had been widely regarded as one of the key players in Durban City’s promotion-winning journey, helping the club secure their return to the elite division in the 2024/25 campaign.
During that promotion season, the Namibian forward finished as the club’s top scorer with 15 goals, underlining his importance in the attacking setup. Across his three-year stay, he netted a total of 28 goals in all competitions for the KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit, consistently delivering in crucial moments.

Reports from South African football outlets, including FARPost and Sportswire, confirm that Kamatuka’s departure follows a broader squad reshuffle at Durban City after their transition into the Betway Premiership. The club has been adjusting its roster following promotion, with several senior players either released or moving on as part of the restructuring process.
Kamatuka, who previously played for clubs such as Baroka FC and Maritzburg United before the Durban City rebrand, also experienced a career highlight when he helped the side lift the Nedbank Cup, marking his first major silverware in South African football.
Despite his exit, the 34-year-old leaves with a strong reputation as a hardworking forward, known for his movement, experience, and ability to deliver in high-pressure matches. In the current top-flight campaign, he had added a modest but important contribution in limited appearances before his departure was finalized.
Durban City are expected to continue reshaping their attacking options as they prepare for the challenges of the Betway Premiership, while Kamatuka’s next move remains to be confirmed as he becomes a free agent ahead of the new season.
