Nciye United FC are within touching distance of a historic achievement as they prepare for the final round of the 2025/26 Kavango West Football Association River Stream Regional Third Division League.

Sitting three points clear at the top of the table with one match remaining, Nciye United need only a draw against Mpungu FC at Makambu Sport Field to secure the league title and move a step closer to becoming the third club from Mpungu Constituency to compete in the Kavango West Second Division, joining Kulisuka Palace FC and LK United FC.

The decisive fixture also gives Nciye an opportunity to avenge their first-round defeat to Mpungu FC. Having worked hard in preparation for the encounter, the league leaders are determined to finish their impressive campaign on a high.

Mpungu FC, however, will be equally motivated. After defeating Nciye in the reverse fixture, they will be looking to complete a league double over the table-toppers while also protecting their position in the race for a top-three finish. Should Mpungu lose and J&B FC win their final match, J&B would climb above them on goal difference.

Although Nciye hold the advantage, the title race is not yet over. Kambu United FC still have a mathematical chance of overtaking the leaders, but only if Nciye lose to Mpungu and Kambu defeat Kakoro United FC by an extraordinary margin of at least 15 goals to overturn the goal difference.

Kambu’s task is made even more difficult by the quality of Kakoro United, a side that has frustrated many opponents this season. Their attacking duo of Hausiku Clemens and Muyenga Johannes remains one of the league’s biggest threats and could once again prove decisive.

The battle to avoid relegation is also set for a dramatic finish. Panado Eleven FC, Kakuro FC and Young Polo FC all remain in danger, with only one of the three clubs expected to survive.

Young Polo must beat Panado Eleven and hope Kakuro fail to win. Panado Eleven can strengthen their survival hopes with victory but will also be keeping an eye on Kakuro’s result. Meanwhile, Kakuro FC must overcome Kulisuka FC at the Nkurenkuru Sports Complex and rely on favourable results elsewhere to avoid relegation.

Kulisuka FC will also be targeting maximum points as they aim to finish the season strongly and improve their chances of securing a top-four place.
