Omaheke, Kavango East Share Points in Thrilling the opening of the U20 Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup Opener

Group A action at the U20 Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup got underway with two competitive fixtures played at Westdene Stadium in Keetmanshoop on Friday, producing both a decisive win and a balanced draw.
Otjozondjupa made a strong statement in their opening match, defeating Hardap 2–0. Naithen Damaseb was the standout performer, netting both goals to secure the victory for his side. His impressive display earned him the Man of the Match award.
In the other Group A encounter, Omaheke and Kavango East settled for a 1–1 draw in a closely fought contest. Vepukisa Tjonga opened the scoring for Omaheke, while Gelasius Nyangana Muyenga responded for Kavango East to ensure the points were shared. Tjonga’s performance saw him walk away with the Man of the Match accolade.
Omaheke captain Oscar Simon acknowledged that his team faced a challenging match, admitting they struggled in the first half despite taking the lead. He noted that a loss of composure in the second half allowed Kavango East to equalise, but expressed confidence that the team will improve in their upcoming matches.
