The Parisian side returned to preparations just two weeks ago, with the majority of their first-team squad reporting to the PSG Campus before travelling to Austria for the important European encounter.

Among those back with the squad are several high-profile internationals, including Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembélé and Fabian Ruiz. New arrivals Lucas Digne and Maghnes Akliouche are also part of the squad as PSG prepare for their first major test of the new season.

Stars To Watch:

Much of the attention will be on Ousmane Dembélé, who remains one of PSG’s biggest attacking threats. His pace, movement and ability to create opportunities could prove decisive against an Aston Villa defence that will have to cope with PSG’s attacking quality.

Bradley Barcola is another player capable of changing the game with his speed and direct running, while Warren Zaïre-Emery brings energy and technical quality to the midfield despite his young age.

In the centre of the team, Fabian Ruiz provides experience and control, while Lucas Hernandez adds defensive strength and international experience.

The match will also provide an early opportunity to see how PSG’s new signings, including Lucas Digne and Maghnes Akliouche, fit into a squad that is already packed with established European stars.

PSG vs Aston Villa: Head-to-head

The two clubs have faced each other only twice previously, with both encounters coming in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. PSG currently lead the head-to-head by one victory to one, with no draws.

With the UEFA Super Cup trophy at stake, both sides have an early opportunity to make a statement before the new season gets fully underway.
