Sundowns Set to Share Full R6 Million Champions League Prize Among Players and Staff

Mamelodi Sundowns have been crowned CAF Champions League winners after a dramatic 1–1 draw against AS FAR in the second leg of the final, sealing a 2–1 aggregate victory over the Moroccan side.
The first leg, played in Pretoria, ended in a 1–0 win for Sundowns, with Aubrey Modiba scoring a crucial free-kick goal. In the return leg on 24 May 2026 in Rabat, AS FAR fought back with a penalty from Mohamed Hrimat, but Sundowns held firm thanks to a decisive away goal scored by Teboho Mokoena, which ultimately secured the title on aggregate.
With this triumph, Sundowns not only lifted the continental trophy but also earned the USD 6 million CAF Champions League prize money.
In a strong show of unity and club philosophy, reports confirm that the entire prize will be distributed to players and technical staff as bonuses, continuing a tradition of rewarding collective success that dates back to the era of Dr Patrice Motsepe and is now upheld under chairman Tlhopie Motsepe.
The gesture highlights Sundowns’ long-standing belief that major achievements belong to everyone involved from players on the pitch to the technical team behind the scenes.
A historic victory, sealed through teamwork on and off the field, now turns into a full-team financial reward.
