Swakopmund FC Stun League Leaders Square Seven FC in 3–2 Thriller
Swakopmund FC pulled off a surprise 3–2 victory over league leaders Square Seven FC in yesterday’s closely contested fixture.
Despite the defeat, the Walvis Bay-based side remain at the summit of the table with 35 points from 16 matches, holding a narrow two-point lead at the top of the standings.
For Swakopmund FC, the win provides a crucial boost in their fight to avoid relegation. The team currently sits on 19 points and still faces a difficult battle with only two matches remaining in their campaign.
Their survival hopes now depend on collecting maximum points from their remaining fixtures, while also hoping that Kuiseb FC who sit just above them with 24 points fail to pick up any further points in their final four matches.
With the relegation battle still open, Swakopmund FC have reignited their chances, but the margin for error remains extremely slim.
