USA Defeat Australia 2–0 to Top Group D and qualify to Round of 32
The United States continued their strong FIFA World Cup campaign with a 2–0 victory over Australia, securing qualification to the Round of 32 as Group D leaders.
United States took control of the match early, opening the scoring in the 11th minute through Cameron Burgess before doubling their lead in the 43rd minute via Alex Freeman. The Americans managed the game effectively after the break, maintaining control despite several substitutions from both sides.
Australia struggled to break down the USA defence in the first half and were unable to recover after going two goals down before halftime. Although they improved slightly after the break, they lacked the cutting edge to challenge the result.
The result confirms the United States’ dominance in Group D, where they now sit top with six points. Their campaign began with a convincing 4–1 win over Paraguay, followed by this second straight victory to seal early qualification to the knockout stage.
Australia remain in contention for qualification with three points, while Paraguay and Turkey are yet to register a point in the group.
