Somalian referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan has pledged to make history at the 2030 FIFA World Cup after returning home to a hero’s welcome in Mogadishu following his inability to travel to the United States due to visa-related issues.

Artan, who is widely regarded as one of Somalia’s top football officials, arrived safely in his homeland where he was warmly received by supporters, sports stakeholders, and members of the public. Despite the setback, the referee remained optimistic about his future on the international stage.

“My thanks also go to FIFA and CAF for standing by me throughout this journey. They never left me alone.”

Looking ahead, the ambitious referee vowed not to let the disappointment define his career and promised to continue working hard to achieve his dream of officiating at football’s biggest tournament.
