Kavango East Claim Football and Netball Titles at Dr. Libertine Amathila Annual Sports Tournament

Kavango East closed the 2025 Dr. Libertine Amathila Annual Sports Tournament on a high note after securing top honors in both football and netball, following strong performances across the competition.
In the football final, Kavango East defeated Kunene B 2–1 to lift the championship trophy. The closely contested match was evenly balanced in the early stages, with both sides going into halftime tied at 1–1. Kavango East, however, showed greater composure in the second half and netted the decisive goal to seal victory. They are now champions for the third consecutive time.
Kavango West secured third place in the football category after edging Oshikoto 1–0 in a tightly fought playoff match, earning a place on the podium.
In netball, Kavango East once again proved their dominance by overpowering hosts and defending champions Kunene A with a convincing 25–16 win in the final. The victory saw Kavango East dethrone the hosts and claim the 2025 netball crown.
The Dr. Libertine Amathila Annual Sports Tournament continues to play an important role in fostering regional competition, sports development, and unity among Namibia’s regions.
