The Namibia Annual Sport Awards (NASA) has introduced major changes to some of its award categories ahead of the 2026 edition, with adjustments aimed at improving recognition, fairness, and competitiveness among nominees.

The Sports Star of the Year category will no longer be a nomination-based category but will instead be decided as an overall award, following the set criteria.

Meanwhile, the Media Awards category has been consolidated into one category. It will no longer be divided into separate Broadcast, Print, and Digital categories, but will now fall under a single Sports Journalist Award category.

The former Federation of the Year Award and Community Inspiration Award have also been merged into a single category, now known as the Federation and Community Impact of the Year Award.

Vice-Project Director Magic Nyambe said during the launch of the 2026 NASA that the official ceremony will be held in Windhoek in November 2026.
