NSC Calls Off Remaining National Youth Games Trials

The Namibia Sports Commission has cancelled the second phase of the National Youth Games trials, affecting football, boxing and netball athletes who were scheduled to compete this weekend.
The trials were expected to run from Thursday until Sunday as part of the ongoing selection process for Namibia’s team ahead of the Region Five Youth Games set for December in Maputo, Mozambique.
The decision comes shortly after the completion of volleyball and basketball trials held in Ondangwa from last Saturday to Tuesday, where athletes competed for national team places.
In a statement, the commission said the cancellation was due to unforeseen circumstances. It also apologised to athletes, coaches, officials, parents and stakeholders, stating that the decision was not taken lightly.
The commission has not yet confirmed whether the affected trials will be rescheduled.
Namibia Sports Commission chief administrator Freddy Mwiya said the organisation will communicate updates to all affected federations, adding that the situation was beyond their operational control.
