SSFD Approves Three-Month Executive Committee Extension Ahead of Elections

The Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) has approved a three-month extension of the current Executive Committee’s mandate to allow the League to complete important governance and electoral processes.
The decision was taken during an Extraordinary Annual General Meeting (EAGM) held virtually via Google Meet on Saturday, 18 July 2026, with eight of the League’s 12 member clubs in attendance. Mariental Sports Club, Orlando Pirates, Try Again, and Blue Boys were absent.
The extension, effective from 23 July to 23 October 2026, follows directives from the Namibia Football Association (NFA) and will provide the League with sufficient time to finalise key matters, including the promotion and relegation process, admission of newly promoted clubs, appointment of the SSFD Electoral Committee, and preparations for the upcoming elective congress.
SSFD Chairperson Jakobus Murs Markus thanked member clubs for their continued cooperation and commitment towards strengthening governance within the League. He also congratulated Young Brazilians FC for winning the 2025/26 Southern Stream First Division Championship and wished the club success ahead of its expected participation in the Namibia Premier Football League, subject to NFA confirmation.
Meanwhile, the //Kharas Football Region has undergone a leadership change following the election of its former Chairperson, Mr. Enrico Blaauw, as Mayor of Keetmanshoop.
Blaauw resigned from his position as regional football chairperson two weeks ago in accordance with Section 25 of the Sports Act, which prevents individuals elected to local, regional, or national legislative structures from serving on executive committees of sports organisations.
Mr. Renaldo Reduaan De Klerk has since been appointed as the new Chairperson of the //Kharas Football Region.
The SSFD said the extension of its Executive Committee’s mandate will ensure that all outstanding governance requirements are completed while upholding principles of transparency, accountability, fairness, and democratic participation within the League.
