Tanzania Becomes First African League to Introduce FVS Technology
Tanzania has become the first country in Africa to introduce Football Video Support (FVS) in its domestic top-flight league.
The system is designed to support referees in reviewing key incidents and making more informed decisions during matches. Unlike full Video Assistant Referee (VAR), FVS provides a simplified video-support system aimed at helping officials assess certain contentious situations.
The technology has already been used in Tanzania’s Premier League, where it has assisted referees with several decisions during matches.
The introduction of FVS represents another move by Tanzanian football authorities to improve officiating standards and reduce major errors, while making the game more transparent and fair for players and supporters.
