Home Affairs Officer Arrested Over Alleged Illegal Issuing of Namibian Documents

A 45-year-old administrative officer stationed at the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Rundu Regional Office has appeared in court following his arrest on corruption-related charges.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) confirmed that Slyvanus Shipandeni Shuudeni was taken into custody on Monday and made his first court appearance in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

He is accused of corruptly using his office for gratification. The charges stem from allegations that in 2018, he abused his position to facilitate the issuance of Namibian birth documents to an Angolan national who did not qualify for such documentation.
The case has been postponed to 28 September 2026 for the setting of a trial date, while investigations continue.
