Angolan National Arrested at Noordoewer Border with Large Amount of Undeclared Foreign Currency

Authorities at the Noordoewer Border Post arrested a 43-year-old Angolan national after he was allegedly found in possession of a large amount of undeclared foreign currency during a border inspection.
According to police reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of 7 March 2026 between 00h00 and 03h00. During routine checks at the border post, officials reportedly discovered that the suspect was carrying a substantial sum of foreign currency which had not been declared to authorities as required by law.
Following the discovery, the man was arrested on suspicion of money laundering and taken into police custody.
He is expected to appear before the Noordoewer Periodical Court on 09 March 2026.
Police investigations into the matter are continuing.
