42-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Allegedly Raping 58-Year-Old Woman

A 42-year-old woman has been taken into custody in the southern settlement of Aus following allegations that she raped a 58-year-old woman. The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, 3 April 2026, at around 16:00 in the Khaubeb area of Aus.

Both the victim and the suspect were taken to Lüderitz State Hospital for medical examinations and the completion of a rape kit. The suspect remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Aus Periodical Court on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. Authorities confirmed there was no domestic relationship between the two women. Police investigations are ongoing.

This case is among several sexual assault incidents reported over the past weekend across the country.

  • In Ouhozu, Opuwo, two girls aged nine and 19 were targeted on Friday morning at around 04:30. A partially naked man allegedly attempted to assault the younger girl while the older sister tried to intervene. The suspect fled, leaving the older girl injured, and remains unidentified.
  • In Rosh Pinah, a 50-year-old man allegedly raped a 29-year-old visitor in his home on Saturday, 4 April 2026, after returning intoxicated and making sexual demands. The suspect was arrested and will appear in Lüderitz Magistrate’s Court on 7 April 2026.
  • In Rundu, a 19-year-old female student was reportedly assaulted by a group of unknown boys while walking home from a cultural event, who also stole her belongings.
  • In Kalkrand, Mariental district, a 23-year-old man allegedly raped his 34-year-old roommate on Saturday morning at 02:00, threatening her with a machete during the assault. The suspect has been arrested.
  • In Swakopmund’s DRC settlement, an unknown suspect broke into a home on Saturday morning at around 04:00, raping and robbing a woman of a flat-screen TV and two mobile phones valued at N$6,000. The suspect is still at large.

Police have urged members of the public to report any information that could assist in the investigations.
