Prime Minister Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare has called for immediate action to improve sports facilities in Kavango West after expressing concern over the current condition of infrastructure in Nkurenkuru.

Speaking during a visit to the region, Dr. Ngurare said the state of the facilities did not match the expectations he had been given prior to the trip. According to the Prime Minister, he had been led to believe that sports venues in Nkurenkuru had already been developed to meet national standards.

However, after inspecting the facilities firsthand, he discovered that significant work still needs to be done.

Regional officials informed him that funding for the projects had been allocated, but progress has been delayed due to difficulties in accessing the approved resources.

Dr. Ngurare urged the Kavango West Regional Council and all relevant stakeholders to work together to resolve the challenges slowing down development. He emphasized the importance of removing administrative obstacles, engaging the appropriate authorities, and ensuring that construction and upgrading efforts move forward without further delays.

The Prime Minister stressed that quality sports infrastructure is essential for the growth of sport in the region, adding that facilities should meet the same standards seen elsewhere in the country, including well-maintained grass playing fields and modern stadium amenities.
