Teenage Girl Hospitalized Following Alleged Concealment of Newborn’s Body

Ondangwa – A 17-year-old girl from Ompandakani in the Oshana region has been hospitalized at Onandjokwe State Hospital for medical evaluation after allegedly giving birth and hiding the infant’s body.
Namibian Police spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred in the early hours of Friday. The teenager reportedly gave birth in secret and later concealed the body.
Her family became suspicious after discovering bloodstains in the house that morning. When confronted, she claimed to have suffered a miscarriage, according to Shikwambi.
Authorities also revealed that the teenager’s pregnancy had gone unnoticed by her family, and she had not received any antenatal care.
The fetus has since been transferred to the Oshakati police mortuary as investigations into the matter continue.
