Stina Wu announces US$400 million investment commitments for Namibian projects
Businesswoman Stina Wu says her business network has secured approximately US$400 million in financing commitments and investment support for development initiatives in Namibia following recent engagements between Namibia and China.
Wu made the announcement in a statement shared on her Facebook page, where she described the Namibia–China engagements as a significant milestone for trade, investment and economic cooperation between the two countries.She expressed appreciation to President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and Chinese President Xi Jinping for what she described as their leadership in strengthening the strategic partnership between Namibia and China.
According to Wu, the investment commitments were identified together with her business associates through engagements with potential Chinese investors, business partners and collaborators. She said the funding remains subject to the completion of commercial and regulatory processes.
Wu said the partnerships are expected to support development projects and create opportunities for investment, technology transfer, skills development and employment creation in Namibia. She further encouraged Namibian entrepreneurs, companies and project developers with investment ready proposals to approach her team for possible linkages with Chinese investors.
The businesswoman said her team is willing to facilitate introductions with potential Chinese partners in sectors such as mining, manufacturing, fisheries, agriculture and infrastructure.“Namibia continues to be an attractive destination for international investment,” Wu said, adding that stronger Namibia-China cooperation could contribute to the country’s long-term economic development.
The announcement comes amid efforts by Namibia to attract foreign direct investment and strengthen economic ties with international partners.However, details on the specific projects, investors involved, timelines and the structure of the financing commitments have not yet been disclosed.
The reported investment commitments are expected to go through the necessary commercial and regulatory approval processes before implementation.
