Namibia Strengthens Sporting Partnerships with India and Botswana

Namibia has taken further steps to expand its international sporting relations after signing two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with India and Botswana, aimed at improving athlete development, coaching and technical cooperation.
The Namibia National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association (NNOC-CGA) signed an agreement with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on the sidelines of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
The agreement was signed by NNOC-CGA President Dr Ndeulipula Hamutumwa and IOA President Dr P. T. Usha. It will create opportunities for cooperation in high-performance training, coaching development and technical exchanges across various sporting codes.
The targeted disciplines include cricket, hockey, badminton, boxing, wrestling, athletics, archery and shooting.
In a separate development, Namibia and Botswana have also strengthened their sporting relationship through an MoU signed between the NNOC-CGA and Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) in Dakar, Senegal, on 2 November 2026.
The agreement will promote cooperation in athlete development, coaching education, technical support, joint training camps and the exchange of sporting knowledge.

The partnership will particularly focus on athletics, including sprint and relay events, as well as lawn bowls.
Both agreements are expected to open doors for athletes, coaches and sporting institutions to benefit from international expertise, improved training opportunities and closer cooperation.
The partnerships form part of Namibia’s broader efforts to develop its sporting talent and strengthen its presence in international competitions.
