President Nandi-Ndaitwah to lead Namibia-South Africa talks on trade and investment.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa are set to lead high level talks aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two neighbouring countries during the Fourth Session of the Namibia-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Pretoria.

According to the Namibian Presidency, Nandi-Ndaitwah will co-chair the summit with Ramaphosa on 17 July 2026, following a series of engagements between officials from both governments.The discussions will begin with a Senior Officials’ Session on 14 and 15 July, followed by a ministerial meeting on 16 July, led by Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade Selma Ashipala-Musavyi and South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ronald Lamola.

The BNC is the main framework through which Namibia and South Africa review and strengthen their bilateral relations. The two countries have more than 150 agreements covering areas including trade, investment, security, defence, legal cooperation and social development.

The upcoming session is expected to focus on key areas such as economic integration, trade and investment, border management, infrastructure, energy cooperation, security and regional challenges.The Presidency said several agreements and memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed during the meeting as part of efforts to deepen cooperation between the two countries.

A South Africa-Namibia Business Forum will also be held alongside the BNC under the theme “Driving Regional Industrialisation, Investment and Sustainable Growth through Strategic South Africa-Namibia Partnerships.” The forum will bring together government representatives, investors and business leaders to explore opportunities for stronger private sector partnerships, increased trade and investment, and regional value chain development.

Namibia and South Africa remain among each other’s key trading partners and continue to work together through regional bodies such as the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Southern African Customs Union (SACU).

President Nandi-Ndaitwah is expected to depart for South Africa on 16 July and return to Namibia on 17 July 2026.
