IPC wants Works Minister to review reports on senior officials
The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) has called on Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi to review investigation reports involving senior officials within the ministry and its related entities, raising concerns over accountability in the public sector.
In a statement issued by IPC Member of Parliament Nelson Kalangula, the party raised concerns over what it described as “executive recycling”, alleging that some officials linked to previous investigations and disciplinary matters continue to hold senior positions.
The party said there is a need for stronger vetting processes when appointing senior government officials to ensure that individuals entrusted with leadership roles meet the required standards of integrity and accountability.
IPC further called for measures, including possible blacklisting of officials found responsible for misconduct, saying those who violate public trust should not continue occupying influential positions.
The opposition party also said it has approached the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) seeking updates on reported forensic investigations involving officials within the ministry and its entities.
Kalangula said strengthening accountability systems is necessary to restore public confidence and ensure that government institutions operate transparently.
The IPC’s call comes amid ongoing public discussions around governance, the management of public resources and the need for stronger oversight within state institutions.
