“I am very happy that, at least one year after the coronation, we are celebrating this day together. This is something that had been absent for almost five years,” he said.

The minister called on communities to continue embracing unity and preserving their cultural heritage, saying traditional festivals play an important role in fostering social cohesion and strengthening identity.

“What will help us remain united is a commitment to truth, objectivity, and the ability to distinguish fact from fiction. These are the foundations that will sustain peace in our region,” he said.

Sankwasa also expressed satisfaction that traditional authorities, who had previously experienced divisions, are now working together for the benefit of their communities.

“I am pleased that, after many years during which traditional authorities were divided and at odds with one another, they are now coming together. This unity is encouraging, and it gives us hope for a more peaceful and prosperous future,” he said.

The minister noted that the revival of the Masubiya Cultural Festival reflects renewed efforts to preserve cultural traditions while promoting reconciliation, unity, and development in the Zambezi Region.

The festival brought together government leaders, traditional authorities, and community members to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Masubiya people through traditional ceremonies, music, dance, and speeches.
