Amushelelo Opens Up About Financial Struggles, Moves to Own Home

Social activist and businessman Michael Amushelelo has taken to social media to share his personal financial struggles, revealing that he has been facing tough times since 2019 when his bank accounts were frozen.

Amushelelo, who was once one of the richest young Namibians, owned more than five cars and lived a luxurious life. However, his life turned upside down after the government seized his assets following fraud charges against him. He tried to fight for his assets but failed. Recently, he parted ways with his wife, whom he had married.

In a heartfelt post, Amushelelo said many people assume he is financially stable, but the reality is different. He explained that his efforts to empower others financially led to challenges, as “the system” does not want ordinary Namibians to become independent.

“For years, I have been struggling. The worst part is when I get arrested, because even while in prison, I still have to provide for my family,” he wrote.

In his emotional story, he also noted that he borrowing N$30,000 from his mother, Paulina Nakale, to start building his own home. He expressed deep gratitude for her support, saying it was supposed to be the other way around, him taking care of her.

Although his new home at Brakwater is unfinished, he sees it as freedom from paying high rent.

“There is no floor, no toilet, no shower, but at least I don’t have to worry about rent anymore,” he said.

He also encouraged people not to lose hope, saying he shares his struggles to inspire others who may be facing similar hardships.

“As of today, I am the President of the Ghettos, Ambassador of the Homeless & Landless. We will get back one way or another,” he declared.

Amushelelo is one of the activists who go to great lengths to fight corruption in Namibia. He wants to see Namibians living a better life. His followers are wishing him the best of luck in his new chapter, and some are willing to assist him in getting back on his feet.
