Health Ministry and MVA Fund Sign MoU to Improve Emergency Services
The Ministry of Health and Social Services and the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund have entered into a new partnership aimed at improving access to essential and timely health services, particularly for people affected by road crashes.
The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which seeks to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions and improve the response to medical needs within communities.
MVA Fund Chief Executive Officer Rosalia Martins-Hausiku said Namibia needs to create an environment where the public and private sectors can work alongside each other to improve service delivery.
She said the MVA Fund is part of the government’s broader efforts and that its investments in the public sector are aimed at supporting an urgent response when road accidents occur and ensuring that crash victims receive the necessary assistance.
Health and Social Services Minister Dr Esperance Luvindao said the signing of the MoU should not be viewed as the end of the process, but rather as the beginning of practical action by both parties.
She stressed that the agreement must be implemented to ensure that members of the public receive the services they need without unnecessary delays.
Dr Luvindao said the MoU also highlights the need for more work to be done to strengthen health services and ensure communities receive assistance when they need it most.
She emphasised that people requiring urgent services should not have to wait for hours before receiving the necessary help.
