The National Youth Service (NYS) has a new nine-Board members following its inauguration by Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Sanet Steenkamp.

The Board will serve for a three-year term and is expected to provide strategic direction on the management and administration of the Service.

Nicolas Nyambe Tembwe has been appointed as Chairperson, with Ndahambela Ndoroma-Ippinge serving as Vice Chairperson.

The other members are Major-General Anne-Marie Nainda, who has been reappointed, Colonel Joel Akuduhenga, Clementine Lucelle Ferris, Dr Sartorius Von Bach, Jaugue Seubel Jansen, Jean-Pierre Bezuidenhout and Surita Savage.

During the inauguration, Steenkamp urged the members to put the interests of young people first and carry out their responsibilities with integrity and independent judgement.

The Board will also advise the President on NYS programmes, activities and policies, while providing policy guidance to the NYS Commissioner on the Service’s administrative and management affairs.
