Barcelona forward Raphinha will miss the club’s next two matches against Getafe and Galatasaray as head coach Hansi Flick opts to manage his fitness carefully.

Flick confirmed on Friday that the Brazilian has no major injury, but the club does not want to take unnecessary risks given his history of injuries last season.

“We have to be careful because last year he had three injuries, and we need to take care of him. He won’t be available tomorrow or against Galatasaray,” Flick said.

Raphinha recently experienced discomfort in his right thigh during Brazil’s 4-2 friendly victory over Australia. He was substituted at half-time and subsequently left the national team camp after medical examinations identified swelling but no confirmed serious injury.

Barcelona will face Getafe on Saturday, 10 October, before travelling to Turkey to meet Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, 13 October.

Flick’s decision is aimed at allowing the forward to recover fully before returning to action.
