African Stars FC Part Ways with Gerald Güther After Two Matches in Charge

African Stars FC have parted ways with head coach Gerald Güther after a brief spell in charge of the Namibian football giants.
Güther was appointed in September 2026 on a two-year contract following the departure of Ronnie Kanalelo.
The coach’s tenure saw him lead African Stars in two matches in the CAF Champions League preliminary rounds against South African side Orlando Pirates FC.
African Stars suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first leg in Botswana before losing 4-0 in the return leg in South Africa. The results saw the Namibian side exit the competition with a 5-0 aggregate defeat.
The club confirmed the separation through a message shared on its social media platforms, thanking the coach for his service and wishing him well in his future endeavours.
“Every journey has its chapter and today we close this one with gratitude. Thank you very much Coach Güther and we wish you very well🙏,” the club posted.
The departure brings an end to Güther’s short spell at African Stars, with the club now facing the task of determining its next step ahead of its upcoming domestic commitments.
