Young African FC have sold their status for the second time within a year, with Namib Woestyn SC of Walvis Bay acquiring their Southern Stream First Division status.

The Namibia Football Association (NFA) confirmed its approval of the exchange of club status, name and relocation in a letter dated 16 October 2026. The association approved the arrangement subject to compliance with its statutes, rules and regulations.

Under the agreement, Young African FC will cease participating in the Southern Stream First Division under their existing identity, while Namib Woestyn SC will assume the relevant league status and relocate its base of operations to Walvis Bay.

The latest transaction follows Young African’s earlier sale of their Namibia Premier League status to Tigers FC. Tigers were relegated from the top flight last season.

Young African’s successive status sales mark a significant change in the club’s position in Namibian football. Last season, the club competed in the CAF Confederation Cup, representing the country on the continental stage.

However, after selling their top-flight status previously and now their Southern Stream First Division status, Young African are set to leave the competition under their current identity.

For Namib Woestyn SC, the acquisition provides an opportunity to compete in the Southern Stream First Division, subject to the fulfilment of the required administrative, registration and competition procedures.

The NFA has instructed the relevant parties to update league and competition records to reflect the approved changes, with implementation taking effect from the applicable date.
