A Namibian man allegedly attacked his Chinese employer with an Okapi knife on Monday, April 28, 2025, after arriving at work under the influence of alcohol and demanding his salary. The incident occurred at Unit 44, Industrial Street in the Lafrenz Industrial Area.

According to police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the Chinese employer acted in self-defense and retaliated, leading to both men sustaining injuries. They were taken to the hospital, but the Namibian man reportedly vanished before receiving medical treatment. The police confirmed he is alive.

Only the Chinese employer has opened a case so far, and police investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Embassy in Namibia issued a public statement on April 28 in response to social media claims by political activist Michael Amushelelo, who alleged that a man was beaten to death by Chinese nationals. The embassy dismissed the allegation as false and called the remarks irresponsible.

“The Embassy believes that the Namibian law enforcement authority will conduct necessary investigation and the general public will not be misled by any rumors,” the statement reads.
