A 27-year-old woman is currently recovering at Oshakati Intermediate Hospital after enduring a brutal rape and stabbing incident late Monday night in Omalyata village.
The attack, confirmed by Ohangwena Police Crime Coordinator Deputy Commissioner Melanie Mbuuru, occurred around 11:00 PM on June 16, 2025.According to Deputy Commissioner Mbuuru, an unidentified assailant reportedly forced entry into the victim’s room.
The suspect then demanded money and a cellphone before proceeding to rape the woman. When she attempted to resist, the attacker stabbed her in the ribs and thigh. A struggle ensued, during which the victim initially managed to overpower her assailant.
However, the suspect pursued her, forced her back, and continued the assault.The victim ultimately managed to escape by fleeing through a window and scaling a wall into a neighbor’s yard, where she successfully sought assistance.
She is reported to be in stable condition as she receives medical treatment. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this heinous crime. Authorities are urging anyone with information pertinent to the investigation to come forward and assist the police.
