Police officers in the Oshikoto Region are investigating a disturbing case of suspected concealment of birth following the shocking discovery of a newborn baby’s lifeless body at Okakwiyu village, near Onayena.
The grim incident reportedly took place on Saturday morning around 08:30. It came to light after the landlord of the house grew suspicious upon hearing what seemed to be the cries of an infant coming from the room of a 20-year-old female tenant.
Driven by concern, the house owner alerted nearby residents before notifying the police. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the body of the baby boy hidden inside a basin placed beneath a bed.
A young Namibian woman has since been arrested in connection with the matter. She was immediately taken to the Onandjokwe State Hospital, where she remains under medical care in an unstable condition.
According to the police, investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case.
