Two Men Caught Red-Handed Digging Up Copper Wire in Bukalo – The Updated World

Police in the Zambezi Region arrested two men on Monday night while they were allegedly attempting to dig up underground copper wire in Bukalo village.

The suspects, aged 26 and 36, were caught during a police operation following a tip-off from a trusted informant. According to Chief Inspector Kisco Sitali, the two had been under surveillance for some time after local residents raised concerns about their movements in the area.

Officers acted swiftly on the new information, finding the suspects in the act. They were taken into custody and are currently being held at the Ngoma police station. Authorities confirmed that the men will be charged with theft.

Chief Inspector Sitali expressed concern over the increasing number of copper wire theft cases reported since last year. “We are noticing a disturbing rise in these incidents, which often result in damage to essential infrastructure,” he said.

Police investigations are ongoing to determine where the stolen copper wire is being sold or transported. In the meantime, the public is urged to remain alert and continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting suspicious behavior.

The Namibian Police have reiterated their commitment to tackling infrastructure-related crimes, stressing that community involvement plays a vital role in preventing further incidents.
