
A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 51-year-old man at the Omatara Open Market in Tsumeb on Saturday.
According to the Namibian Police, the deceased has been identified as Wilhem Zackaria. Preliminary investigations suggest that Zackaria was stabbed in the left side of his chest with an unknown object, believed to have caused his death.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of the morning. Police say they were alerted after Zackaria’s lifeless body was discovered at the scene.
The suspect, a resident of the Nomtsoub area in Tsumeb, was taken into custody shortly after the incident. He remains in police custody and is expected to appear before the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 4 August 2025.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind the attack. Investigations are ongoing.
