
A man lost his life on Friday night following an alleged argument over cigarettes while traveling in the back of a pick-up truck in the Otjozondjupa Region.
According to the Namibian Police, the incident took place around 22h24 at the Kalkfeld–Outjo road junction. The suspect and the victim, whose identity has not yet been released, were reportedly seated at the back of a Toyota Hilux when a quarrel broke out.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly drew an Okapi knife and stabbed the victim in the chest. A witness in the same vehicle told police that both men had been consuming alcohol prior to the attack.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. Police arrested the suspect at the scene and recovered the knife believed to have been used in the killing.
Authorities have since opened a case of murder, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
