Two 23-year-old men have been arrested in connection with the robbery of a police officer in Goreangab during the early hours of Sunday, 17 August 2025.
According to the Namibian Police, the incident occurred around 02h00 after the officer had dropped off a colleague. He was suddenly confronted by three suspects armed with a panga.
In an attempt to defend himself, the officer fired several warning shots, one of which struck one of the suspects in the leg. However, after exhausting his ammunition, he fled to a nearby colleague’s house for assistance.
Shortly afterwards, the injured suspect was picked up by a sedan. During the altercation, the suspects allegedly smashed the rear passenger window of the vehicle and made off with a bag belonging to the officer. The stolen items included a camera, a torch, a car key, and the officer’s cellphone.
Police spokespersons confirmed that two of the suspects have since been arrested, while one remains at large. The stolen items have not yet been recovered, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The Namibian Police have urged members of the public with any information that could assist in locating the missing suspect or recovering the stolen property to come forward.
