
Namibians today celebrate the 90th birthday of former Head of State, His Excellency Hifikepunye Lucas Pohamba, the country’s second President, whose legacy of leadership and service continues to shape the nation’s democratic journey.
On this occasion, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah extended warm congratulations to President Pohamba, describing him as a source of wisdom, humility, and inspiration for the Namibian people. She noted that Pohamba’s lifetime of dedication to the liberation struggle and his years of service in government remain deeply embedded in the country’s democratic fabric.
“Former President Pohamba’s heroic exploits in the liberation of Namibia and his unwavering commitment to the people are imprinted in our history,” she said, adding that his revolutionary footprints remain an enduring guide for the nation.
During his presidency, Pohamba was widely respected for his decisive leadership, which strengthened state institutions, fostered unity, and advanced national development. President Nandi-Ndaitwah highlighted these achievements, emphasizing that the former leader’s foresight and humility continue to inspire both young and old.
“As Namibians, we remain grateful for his contributions to peace, progress, and stability,” she added, while wishing him continued good health and long life.
The Head of State concluded her message with heartfelt birthday wishes, calling former President Pohamba not only a leader, but also a mentor and comrade whose life is a testament to service and dedication to the people of Namibia.
