Three Arrested in Otjozondjupa After Being Found With Slaughtered Cattle

A case of suspected stock theft has led to the arrest of three men in the Otjozondjupa Region after police recovered slaughtered cattle valued at N$24,000.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, 10 September 2025, at Farm Eden Garden near Kalkfeld. Authorities confirmed that the animals belonged to a local farmer and were slaughtered without permission. The matter came to light when the herder noticed two cattle missing during a routine head count.

Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, spokesperson for the Otjozondjupa police, explained that officers dispatched to the farm traced fresh tracks leading away from the main homestead. After several kilometers, they discovered meat hanging in nearby trees, though the perpetrators were not immediately found.

Police laid an ambush at the site, resulting in the arrest of two suspects when they returned to collect the meat. A third man fled but was later captured in Kalkfeld location.

The suspects, all Namibian nationals aged between 33 and 46, are expected to appear before the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court this week. Investigations into the case are still ongoing.
