Crime report

A 38-year-old man is scheduled to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court today, facing charges of allegedly raping his 16-year-old daughter on multiple occasions. The alleged incidents took place at the family’s residence in Evululuko location, Oshakati.

Oshana Deputy Commissioner Fredrick Ndjadila confirmed the case, describing it as a deeply troubling incident that has shaken the local community.

The incident took place on different occasions between 20 April and July 2025 during nighttime.

‎Oshana police reported that the victim was in her father’s room popping pimples on her father’s face. The father started touching his daughter’s breast.

‎It is alleged that his daughter told him to stop, then he undressed his daughter; in the process, he inserted his finger into the victim’s private part without her consent.

‎”He undressed himself, and he forcefully had sexual intercourse with his daughter and after he finished, he warned his daughter not to tell anyone; if she does, then he will kill himself,” reads the police report.

‎Police further reported that the second time it was in July this year again when he went to his daughter’s room and collected her, and they went to his sleeping room, where he forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.

He urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and to report any suspicious behavior immediately to authorities.

In response to the incident, community leaders have also advised residents to critically review certain traditional practices that may inadvertently put children at risk. They emphasized the need to adapt customs to prioritize the safety and well-being of minors and to avoid practices that could promote harmful behavior.

Authorities are calling on anyone with additional information regarding the case to come forward and assist with the investigation.
