Bushiri’s Goshen City to Launch Its Hospitality Phase This March 2026

Since Prophet Shepherd Bushiri left South Africa in November 2020 and returned to his home country, Malawi, his focus has extended beyond rebuilding his church to investing in projects aimed at transforming livelihoods, strengthening the economy, and reshaping urban development. One of the most ambitious of these initiatives is Goshen City, which is now preparing for a major milestone.
According to a statement shared on Bushiri’s official social media platforms, the Goshen City Hospitality Phase is scheduled to officially launch in March 2026, marking what developers describe as a significant step toward the realization of the futuristic city.
“We are proud to announce the official launch of the Goshen City Hospitality Phase this March 2026 — a bold step into the future,” the statement said.
“At the same time, we will unveil the construction of Phase Two, the Commercial Phase, which will take two years to complete and will feature international brand stores, world-class shopping experiences, and modern spaces inspired by the elegance of Dubai and the sophistication of Europe.”
Goshen City is a large-scale urban development project located in Mangochi District, Malawi. It is envisioned as a smart and sustainable city that brings together residential areas, commercial centres, hospitality facilities, tourism infrastructure, agricultural zones, and industrial spaces within one integrated urban environment.
Developers say the project is designed to drive economic growth, create employment, and introduce modern urban standards aligned with global best practices. The Hospitality Phase is expected to play a central role in positioning the city as a destination for tourism, conferences, and international visitors.
Alongside the hospitality launch, construction of Phase Two, the Commercial Phase will also be unveiled. This phase is projected to take two years to complete and will include international retail brands, modern shopping complexes, and business spaces tailored to global standards.
The commercial design concept is said to draw inspiration from Dubai’s luxury architecture and European urban sophistication, reflecting the city’s ambition to compete with leading regional developments.
Origins of Goshen City
Goshen City was introduced by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, a Malawian preacher, businessman, and author, who is also the founder of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG), popularly known as The Jesus Nation Church.
The project was officially presented in 2022, when Bushiri introduced the Goshen City concept to the Malawian government as part of the country’s broader secondary cities development initiative. The proposal positioned Goshen City as a catalyst for decentralised urban growth and long-term economic expansion.
Bushiri serves as the visionary leader and chairman of the project through Goshen Trust, the entity responsible for managing the development and its associated ventures. The project leadership has consistently emphasized economic empowerment, sustainability, and innovation as core pillars of the city’s development strategy.
If fully successful as planned, Goshen City could become one of Malawi’s most significant private-led urban developments, reshaping both the local economy and the country’s urban future.
