Prime Minister Praises AgriBank’s N$20 Million Youth Agriculture Investment

Prime Minister Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare has praised AgriBank for committing N$20 million towards supporting youth participation in the agriculture sector, describing the initiative as an important contribution to empowering young Namibians and strengthening food security.

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the initiative during a visit to AgriBank on Wednesday afternoon, where he received a briefing on the implementation of the bank’s Youth Development Fund.

Dr. Ngurare said the programme supports the objectives of the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6), which places emphasis on food security, youth empowerment and sustainable economic growth.

He noted that providing financial support to young people in agriculture will help expand local food production, create employment opportunities and contribute to Namibia’s broader economic development goals.

The Prime Minister also applauded AgriBank for the effective rollout of the Youth Development Fund, saying the programme reflects efforts to create meaningful opportunities for young Namibians.

During the engagement, AgriBank informed Dr. Ngurare that it has already disbursed N$23 million through the fund, with most beneficiaries involved in poultry farming.
