Namibian artist Top Cheri has sparked excitement among fans after teasing an upcoming song in the Damara language, signaling another creative milestone in her music journey.
The singer recently shared a teaser video from the recording studio, showing herself practicing and perfecting the Damara lyrics. The short clip quickly drew attention online, with many praising her effort to embrace local languages and cultural diversity through music.
Alongside the video, Top Cheri shared a heartfelt message addressing growing tribal divisions, using her platform to call for unity and collaboration among Namibian creatives.
“There is so much tribalism in the air, it’s thickening every day. It’s actually sad to see,” she wrote. “Namibia is too small for tribalism. Too rich in culture to be divided by it.”
She encouraged artists from different backgrounds to work together and create art that reflects shared identity rather than division, emphasizing the power of creativity to bring people together.
Top Cheri also revealed that the song was recorded at the studio of award-winning producer Reeziana, describing the experience as deeply inspiring. She noted that it was the first time she had been recorded by a woman in her own studio, an experience she said left her motivated and creatively energized.
“Currently in studio with the award-winning @reeziana_official. I was so honored to be in her presence. I left her studio so inspired,” she shared.
